THE
COURSE IS DESIGNED FOR: · Individuals interested in
using the Montessori Method of education for work with preschool
children. · Preschool, Kindergarten, and Early Elementary
teachers who wish to incorporate the Montessori Method and
philosophy into their classrooms. · Teachers interested
in using the concrete Montessori Materials for remedial
work in Reading or Math for students in grades 1-5. · Parents
who wish to enhance their children’s Montessori experience
through advanced knowledge of the method and philosophy.
· Special Education Teachers who need manipulative and concrete
materials to develop neuro-muscular skills and abstract
concepts.
PROCEDURE FOR APPLYING Prospective students
should call to schedule an interview with the Course Director.
Applicants must have a High School diploma and demonstrate
writing proficiency. If the prospective student is accepted
after having a personal interview, s/he must submit an application
for enrollment, along with the Application & Registration
fee.
PRE-ADMISSION EVALUATION POLICY The MSMA Teacher
Education Program (TEP) requires that students dedicate
a great deal of time, energy, and focus to ensure successful
completion of the course. Appropriate candidates for this
training must demonstrate the ability to compose essays
using proper grammar and spelling. General knowledge and
intellect are also essential for success. Our pre-admission
evaluation procedures are to ensure that any student who
begins this course of study can be reasonably expected to
complete it.

COURSE COMPONENTS AND FEES: (Fees subject to

Registration Fee $100
Includes personal interview, tests and course application
fees. Fee must be received prior to pre-admission evaluation.
Student Fees $300

Academic Workshop $2,900
270 classroom hours spent in lecture/discussion
of Montessori Philosophy and theories of Child Development,
classroom management techniques, the use and purpose of
the Montessori materials, as well as music, art, and cultural
subjects. Students will also be responsible for producing
written assignments and classroom observation reports. Fee
includes textbooks and the written materials needed to complete
the Montessori instructional albums.
Practicum $500*
Students must complete 540 hours of internship in an approved
Montessori primary classroom. Fee includes three (or more)
observations by field supervisors. *Additional fees may
apply for self-directed or out-of-town practicum.
Review and Assessment $300
Both written and oral exams on materials, philosophy, and
management of the Montessori classroom are required for
final certification. Fee includes review session, testing,
and certification fees.
Total Cost: $4100
Note: Upon completion, students with a Bachelor’s degree
will be awarded a full teaching certificate. Non-degreed
students will receive an Associate certificate, which can
be upgraded upon completion of a degree program.

Weekend Sessions Weekend Sessions will begin at 4:00
pm on Friday, and end at 3:00 pm on Sunday, for a total
of 20 hours per weekend, once each month, through the academic
